Great time this weekend. Got to shoot my favorite band.
I’m not normally known as a ‘people’ photographer, but was lucky to be asked to shoot a friend’s family last weekend before his daughter goes off to college. Shot with a 7D, Sigma 17-70 and 10-20 lenses, 580 Speedlight in manual in a remote activated 18 x 18 softbox. It was a great time (for me anyway) and I’m hoping they like them as much as I do…
Made it to my 3rd update this week. Goal reached…
Thought I’d have some fun with this one. These were all 4th of July fireworks shots that I tried a different shooting style. Usually, you can shoot fireworks fairly easy with a tripod, lowest ISO, Bulb mode, and f8 or so. I’ve seen people zoom when shooting, and that gives a different effect also. These were actually focus change in the shots. I started out as far out of focus as I could, when the flash started, quickly manually focus back to where it should be… There are some gotchas and I’ll try to play more next year. The first is you want a wide aperture, or you won’t get them out of focus enough. These were mostly all on a zoom set at 50 mm shot at f5. Next year, I need some ND filters on my 50 prime so I can start out at f2 to really expand them. Of course, that will make bringing them back into focus manually a little tougher, but we’ll see what happens then. I have a year to decide…
